About Us

Medical Textbooks Revealed: The Naked Truth, from the people who brought you Flesh and Bones is a website essentially written by medical students for medical students and aims to take the 'irk' out of the sometimes irksome task of choosing the right medical textbooks for you...who better to guide you through this maze than your peers and ensure you spend your precious cash in the very best way?

Current and graduate medical students are opening up and sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings about the Elsevier textbooks* out there and they certainly aren't shy about telling us what they like and what they don't! All the better for you to make a choice.

Elsewhere on the site you will come across the odd interjection from the team here at Naked Towers...because we do so hate to feel left out!

We have tried to make it easy for you to find the reviews you are looking for and we think that we offer something unique to other sites out there. First of all you don't have to worry about wading through endless books which might not be quite the level you are after - all the books featured on this site are aimed directly at medical students. Even better, if you like you can filter reviews from students just from your school.  You'll notice, as an extra handy resource, as and when people are good enough to send their reading lists in, we post those here as well.

Don't you find though that things are so much better when you get involved? You too can be a reviewer on Medical Textbooks Revealed: The Naked Truth, in fact we wholeheartedly encourage you. To become a reviewer you just need to create yourself a profile by completing a very quick and simple (we promise) registration process Create Profile and off you go...the world (well the site) is your oyster.

We really hope that you find this site and the reviews useful, that's what it's here for. We want to encourage your feedback on the reviews that you have found most helpful. Not least because the best / most helpful reviewers will get onto the leader board (oooh it's so formula one!) and for the top ten there will be regular prizes and special offers...so why not get reviewing and get yourself on the leader board. It's always good to have your say and you can also comment on reviews already written.  You never know, you could even make a friend or two along the way?

*This site is supported by Elsevier Publishing* and provides the opportunity for you to give and get feedback on the huge array of Elsevier publications specifically aimed at medical students.  Elsevier publishes more English language books in this area than anyone else - see below for the imprints covered.

* Elsevier textbooks publish under following imprints: Churchill Livingstone, Saunders and Mosby and our textbook brands and well loved titles include: STUDENTCONSULT, Crash Course, Flesh & Bones, Master Medicine, Illustrated Colour Text, Grays Anatomy, Kumar & Clark and Davidson's.

More about us

We have plenty of other things to keep you occupied that we hope you will find useful, enlightening and even entertaining....such as:

The Reading Room - Like a library but better, the rules don't apply here...make as much noise as you like, eat at your desk and sniff mmm bliss that slightly fusty smell is missing! The shelves are never empty here, browse the sample chapters of best selling textbooks and keep your eyes peeled for other free stuff ... it's changing all the time...

The Blog - Even we don't know what's going to be in here!! Suffice to say this is an area where you can read about the exploits of your fellow medical students as they negotiate the trials and tribulations of life on and off the wards. Oh yes and we (at Naked Towers) might also occasionally pop some tasty tidbits in here too.

Special offers - Look out for our featured titles, that's where we get to choose some stuff that we think you will like. There will be discounts on specific titles and the offers change all the time so keep visiting.

Listeria - Far, far better than it's bacterial counterpart. Not satisfied with reviewing just 1 book - good! A Listeria list is a collection of books that you love and have found most useful. You can create as many lists as you like and they will appear on your profile page and other places on the site for other users to view

I have to have it! - We almost forgot, if you read a review and simply have to have the book you can easily buy it here too - how good is that?
