David Miller, University of Glasgow

Anatomy and Physiology is excellent for getting started on the basics of medicine. Without going into confusing detail it comprehensively covers all of the systems of the body providing a generous dose of anatomy and physiology topped of with a sprinkling of histology and excellent clinical snippets of the diseases than occur in these organs. A particular attention to detail is the sections on clinical medicine i.e. the different range of movements to test in joints. What makes Thibodeau & Paton stand out from similar books is its awesome value for money at £34.99 you get: 1000 page colourful hardback, an excellent acetate pull out body progressively revealing the different anatomical layers of the body, online access to tutorials and viewing software for your pc. Anatomy and Physiology covers most of the science material required for 1st year medicine making it the ultimate lazy mans guide to 1st year- just add beer!
