This review refers to a previous edition of this book
This book is the condensed version of a larger text, and although it has made every effort to pick out the essential features of the subject, it still covers a vast amount of ground and requires careful reading in order to avoid getting lost in the sea of embryological terms and concepts. The authors certainly help with excellent diagrams, MRI and ultrasounds scans, and are always careful to define new terms before they are used. The book is divided chronologically from fertilisation to birth, and thereafter into body systems, in line with many medical courses, A nice touch is the ‘’ clinically oriented questions’’ at the end of each chapter, which cover the kind of factual and ethical questions often posed by students of the subject.

The review above refers to the 6th edition. Look out for the new edition hitting the shelves in October - new edition comes with STUDENT CONSULT access and fantastic animations!
