Neuroscience is one of the hardest parts of the medical curriculum for me, so I needed something clear and simple to help me understand it better. Clinical Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience by FitzGerald et al. is a great book thanks to its basic but detailed drawings, clinical images and broad layout. If you need to go back to basics, this book is definitely for you as it merges neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and radiology beautifully. Only downside is that there is no clinical management section in the book, you'll need to find this elsewhere. Personally, I don't think this is a downside as it is meant primarily for early undergraduates.

This book is packed from the beginning with colour images to illustrate the text, which makes understanding this text much easier. Furthermore there are plenty of histological and clinical images of the brain and spinal cord. The book consistently links the anatomy to the function of each area within the brain, as well as all of the cranial nerves. Each chapter of this book has a ‘Core Information’ which provides the key information discussed in the chapter and really helps to consolidate the learning. There are also a number of clinical panels which helps to integrate the neuroscience and neuroanatomy discussed with clinical practice.

Elizabeth Carr, The University of St Andrews

Clinical Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience 6e is a very well put-together book. It is full of clear and easy to understand diagrams which greatly aid understanding of the anatomy, physiology, embryology etc. The book contains a wide variety of radiological images which are useful for understanding clinical application. Everything you need to know about neurology and neuroscience as a medical student is covered in this book. It includes neuro-anatomy, embryology, physiology, and pharmacology, as well as relevant clinical information and neurological diseases. There are chapters devoted to neurological investigations such as electrodiagnostic examinations and EEG, which are useful in clinical practice. The book also contains lots of good quality photos of prosections. Lots of horizontal cross sections are used to display the brain at various levels. The book is written in a clear and concise way. The information has been condensed to what is relevant, but remains detailed. This is a comprehensive book for any medical student studying a neurology module.
