I didn't use this book until starting my clinical years, and by this time you have usually forgotten the bulk of your basic science knowledge. Integrated Physiology, whilst lacking the detail of other bulky texts still provides a good level of depth for the PBL student either pre-clinical or as a clinical student memory jogger.
'Integration' boxes throughout remind you of concepts from other disciplines, such as pathology, by providing summaries of relevant information that isn't itself 'physiology' but improves your overall understanding of the topic.
A good book that isn't going to drown you in deep depths of knowledge, more like a swim against a slight current!
I think this is a useful and relevant text which covers the main topics comprehensively. I used this book to help revise the pituitary gland and found it covered the key issues in clearly and succinctly. I found the diagrams easy to interpret and well presented. The text is possibly not detailed enough to provide students with all the necessary information but I think that as a revision aid and definitely, in helping students get to grips with the basics, this text is very valiable. On a negative note the paper appeared flimsy and poor quality so as a text it might not be very durable and seemed easily damaged. The clinical points were interesting. Instead of going into lots of unecessary detail they were effective in helping relate the topics to clinical situation. All in all positive reading experience.
