Alessandro Aldera, University of Cape Town

This book is a great revision tool for the visio-spatially challenging subject of embryology. All the major sections of human development are covered in short, concise chapters with loads of colourful illustrations. The text is simple and clear and it lets the pictures do most of the explaining. To understand all the developmental processes fully, this book is probably best used in conjunction with a lecture series or a meatier embryology book. Clinical boxes are ubiquitous in the text and aid the retention of information. This book is excellent for revision purposes as it conveys sufficient depth of information in a concise manner - perfect for reading just before a big exam.
