As usual the Master Medicine series has not let me down! This book is truly a good read. Whether you are starting in year one with pathology and not knowing much to being a fourth year and knowing more. This book has great appeal, easy to read and follow. The varieties of questions at the end of the chapter are great, and help to start consolidating learning. The book is easy to dip in an out of as topics arise. This book is spilt into two sections, the first looking at general pathology, which covers topics such cells - growith, injury and repair, and your immune system. The second section looks at systematic pathology, each chapter looks at a particular system, these include the cardio, respiratory, nervous and endocrine systems. This is a good overview of all topics. My only criticism is that the book lacks pictures and is not in colour. This book is suitable for PBL.

This book enables readers to identify the essential information quickly, making it perfect for students studying pathology for the first time and ideal for use with a problem based learning style course. Its accessibility and clarity are a joy when revising for exams or when reading up in the evenings after a hard day’s placement. Also, the self-assessment section, with outline answers for OSCE, short answer or viva questions and the sample MCQs allow the reader to rapidly evaluate understanding and identify learning needs. Lack of colour and photographs is reflected in the affordable price. Diagrams are clear, simple and accurate making them easily reproducible in exams or when educating patients. The book layout is logical and systematic with the first part dedicated to general pathology and the second part to systematic pathology.
