Master Medicine Physiology is an excellent round up and summary of all of the bread and butter physiology you’d be expected to know in exams. Despite the lack of colour, it gives you all the essentials in an organised and easy to understand format.
It comes into its own in the revision period- its ideal when your just trying to cover everything in moderate depth but don’t have hours to spend trawling through physiology textbooks that break your back lifting them up alone. Moreover, at the ends of the chapters there are questions to check your knowledge. There are a good variety of exam type questions from modified essay questions to short notes and multiple choice; they are all common and hence very relevant exam questions
Although not a substitute for detailed larger physiology textbooks, Master Medicine Physiology is a great little book for getting bag to basics and then building on it. Its ideal as a springboard to start looking into a subject and after drawing on more detailed resources, it provides excellent self assessment material to round up your studies.

This book provides a concise coverage of important physiological concepts. This 3rd edition has been revised and updated, yet it retains the simple systems-based format. Each chapter begins with an overview of important facts and principles for the different systems of the body; which is followed by a number of different types of self-assessment questions, including multiple choice, single best answer, matching item, data interpretation, modified essay questions and clinical scenarios. The strengths of this book are that it is that it is an extremely useful revision tool, not only in terms of the core information provided on major topics but the excellent self-assessment sections within each chapter. The author has ensured to provide clear explanations to all self-assessment answers. The only improvement I would suggest is for colour to be incorporated into the book layout, which would improve the ease in reading as well as understanding of the material.
