Donna Pilkington, University of Manchester

This is an excellent text book for medical students that explains a complicated topic in easy to understand terms. It actually uses plain English!! It is well written and easy to understand, with lovely illustrations and diagrams through out. It concentrates on Medical Genetics and explains a large number of conditions in depth from the commoner conditions to exotic rarer conditions that I had never heard of. There are boxes which contain patient vignettes and commentary boxes which cover areas such as ethical, social and legal issues, which I found to be particularly interesting and I felt that they helped to highlight the topic and aid in its understanding. After reading this book I feel like I have a real grasp and understanding of medical genetics and would highly recommend this book to others.
