Pathology illustrated On opening this textbook, students receive a pleasant surprise. This excellent text is the most readable pathology textbook on the market. All topics and subsection are both short and concise, fully illustrated with tables, flow diagrams and illustrations. The reader is taken from the very basic to intense detail, making this text one of the textbooks one can use throughout all years of medical school! The text layout avoids large paragraphs of texts in any one page, keeping the readers engaged. Students are able to learn, memorise and retain information much more easily. Each topic is equally discussed covering both basic and systemic pathology. Core topics include side sections and cross sections of organ pathology and their histology, each topic is clearly presented in context to clinical scenarios to aid student learning. This text is unusual in that one could leisurely read it from cover to cover like a story book. I would highly recommend this textbook to all medical and biological science students. For the price you pay, this is an excellent buy, and hands down the best pathology text for all undergraduates at all levels. jing-yee hung king's college london MBBS 4

This book not only provides you with the major review points in pathology but is also a very user friendly text. It is a very comprehensive and informative book; yet is concisely written and presents information in a clear and simple manner. The book content covers the main topics on the pathology curriculum here at Bristol. It guides you from a basic level of understanding to the more advanced, and is relevant to the undergraduate student. The main negative aspect is the lack of photographs and good colour images to accompany the text. Overall, the textbook is well balanced, with text and diagrams, and I would recommend this book as an adjunct to lecture notes.

A mixed read. Unfortunately pathology illustrated did not meet my expectations, with the title that it has one would expect to finds high quality full colour diagrams and images outlining the various pathologies covered. In reality it does not, the book is completely in black and white and any diagrams that it does have are small and not the quality that I had expected. However, the content is arranged into 1-2 pages with the key facts, making this book more useful for revision than general background reading. If you are looking for a general pathology textbook that will be a useful all rounder I would not recommend this title, if you are looking for a quick review to refresh your memory then this is the book!

This book was brilliant. I wish I had discovered it earlier. I think that in understanding how to treat a condition we need to know why it is not working in the first place. This book describes all the pathology we would ever need to know in a simple, clear and concise way through the use of pictures, diagrams and text. It is a very readable text book and gives you a firm grounding in the underlying disease mechanism making it easy to understand why a patient with x, develops symptoms z and y and therefore why we treat them the way we do. It is a pathology textbook so don’t expect it to have treatment in it and possibly the only downside are there are no colour photos. But the diagrams are excellent. I have used it intensely in preparation for my last exam alongside oxford handbook for management of conditions. Overall a fantastic book.
