This is a very comprehensive paediatrics textbook. It serves well as a general paeds book for your rotation and will sit on your shelf as a reference book past graduation. I would recommend this book to someone who seriously considers paediatrics as a career pathway rather than the medical student who sees their paeds rotation as a necessary hurdle. This book does suffer from a lack of colour and is aimed more towards Australia than the UK.

This is a really comprehensive book. It has everything you could want to know. It is well written, easy to understand and has lovely illustrations. There are highlighted tables which I liked and the Practical Points boxes are really informative. The one thing I felt let the book down slightly was it’s layout. There are no spaces between paragraphs so it just looks like there are blocks and blocks of text. Personally, I find this quite daunting. Even the Practical Point boxes are just bullet points on top of each other with no gaps. I would recommend the book as information wise it’s excellent, but if you are like me and you like your text in small chunks then this might not be the book for you.
